Description MAtteo HCE Valsasna 2007-04-29 03:24:45 UTC
hallo,

I'm using an HP nx9005 laptop with the builtin ATI Technologies, Inc. Radeon 320M (RS200 IGP)

the LCD works fine out of the box, while I have problems with the VGA output:

with ubuntu 6.06/xorg 7.0 I could drive an external LCD 1280x1024 monitor (but with some image instability and flickering).
if an external monitor was connected, X was displayed on it, and the LCD remained blank, otherwise X was displayed on the LCD, with correct settings in both cases.
I wasn't able to run mergedFB

windowx XP drives the same monitor without instabilities, and is also able to extend the desktop on both monitors.

after the upgrade to ubuntu 7.04 (xorg 7.2), xorg detects the external monitor, and X is started, but the monitor remains blank.
the monitor menu shows the correct resolution and vrefresh are sent to the monitor

this happens with 2 different, know-working, external monitors

attached the configuration and the Xorg logs in the three cases (2 external monitors and the LCD builtin panel)

Can you try the latest code from ati git master?
Comment 10 Maxim Osipov 2007-12-15 12:01:59 UTC
Didn't work on Ubuntu 7.10
Works fine on git b653e5a628bfa4dfb168e96f93f41eb910f409fb

Doesn't work on Ubuntu 8.04. Tried latest driver and revision in comment above - didn't help.

I think this should be resolved in 6.9.0 or ati git master.
