swfdec 0.6.0 will play the first part of the video links from http://www.theonion.com (the advertisement). The second part it doesn't quite get. It recognizes the stream and can be saved through "save media as". My guess is that this is an easy fix for someone that knows the internals of swfdec.


By the way, this is very nice software. I dropped Flash a while back for this, and have been happy with the pace that it's developing. My setup is:

64 bit Arch Linux, updated daily
glib2 2.15.6 (nonofficial to Arch)
libsoup 2.3.4 (nonofficial to Arch)
gcc 4.2.3
kernel 2.6.24
firefox 3 beta 3 (nonofficial to Arch)

I disabled gstreamer and am using my system FFmpeg which is built daily.

It seems that there no longer is advertisement before the video, so the video plays just fine with Swfdec now. Marking as INVALID

Feel free to reopen the bug if there still are videos with ads that don't work
