This cause of this crash is now fixed, but there may be others...
Comment 2 Nikolay Vladimirov 2008-04-01 18:12:35 UTC
I used git commit d017dfa93e7eff988339b8030af1a563347156bc( Tue Apr 1 21:23:35 2008 +0100) to rebuild the fedora rpm. And now Xorg starts just fine. I'll attach Xorg.log.working for reference.

I'll also file a bug in redhat's bugzilla to update the package.

Xorg log after the problem has been fixed
Comment 4 Stuart Bennett 2008-04-02 12:01:28 UTC
Hi, without wishing to promote bug resurrection, it would be great if you have time to try enabling randr12 with this chipset (as described at http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/Randr12 ), since it will shortly be on by default (and is already in Fedora), and from looking at your log will fail horribly and need fixing -- if this is the case, please open a new bug.

fedora's randr patch

Not sure what to do. The rpm is built using the patch I attached and I also enabled Randr 1.2 in xorg.conf and everything seems to work that way.
The problem is when I comment HorizSync and VertRefresh according to http://wiki.debian.org/XStrikeForce/HowToRandR12 - X crashes and doesn't start.
Also today's update of xserver in rawhide was broken and had to revert to yesterdays version and these things happen a lot in rawhide. So this maybe some packaging or xserver issue.
Maybe it's best if I report the bug to fedora?
