variety is an applet for having slideshow wallpapers across many GUIs.

In the process, they build up a script to change the wallpaper depending on the GUI.

This can be the base for "xdg-wallpaper" in xdg-utils.

I'm personally interested in implemented any new (major) features in xdg-utils.  I'd prefer to let variety continue to fill that role.
