From http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=340395

1. Open properties dialog of gnome panel
2. change size to "50"
3. mark the background checkbox
4. make the panel transparent
5. try to restart gnome session.
6. It either freezes (->cold start required)
or it crashes (-> Xorg/gdm gets restarted automatically)

I tried to reproduce, and it's easy to reproduce. I have this in my X log file:

Works for me using Ubuntu 10.10 with xserver 1.9 (xorg-server 2:1.9.0-0ubuntu7).
