Description Sascha Sommer 2004-12-04 03:17:14 UTC
Hi,
I get a strange display corruption on the laptop panel with the radeon driver
when switching from X to console. It also may occure when shuting down X. See
the attached shots.
It does not always happen and it happens at random times. The problem usually
stays like this when I switch back to X again, see the 2nd shot for this (looks
like every 2nd line gets displayed a bit left of the right). After
a few more vt switches it usually goes away again.
External monitor in clone mode does not show the corruption and screenshots
don't show it either. There is also no difference if I radeonfb is running or
if I only have plain text console. A short test showed that the vesa X driver
does not seem to have this problem. The attached logs are from the Gentoo
6.8.0-r3, but I also tryed the official release tarballs and xfree. They all
have this problem.
I hope this is only a configuration problem on my side.

Please try the latest release and report whether or not the problem still exists.
Comment 8 Sascha Sommer 2005-09-25 06:11:31 UTC
I'm sorry but I can't do further testing. The soundchip of this laptop broke. I
therefore returned it.

Some VT switching problems have been reported fixed recently, so
it seems fair to assume that the bug reported here was also fixed.
