In gpk-application, pasting into the "Find" input field sometimes behaves as the user would expect, but other times it behaves quite strangely.

For example, if the user has already performed a search and then highlights the existing search term and pastes over it, gpk-application acts like it automatically started the new search (with the right side pane blanking and the "Querying" text showing up at the bottom left), but it eventually comes back to the results for the text which was pasted over rather than the intended search. This bug still exists as of today in gnome-packagekit-2.27.3-1.

Also, I have previously observed that pasting over the highlighted text used to / sometimes does not overwrite the highlighted text, but instead appends to the end of it.

In case it's not obvious why someone would ever paste into the "Find" field rather than typing, that could be because they are searching for a specific package name that they copy and paste from their browser, or, in my specific case, it's because I keep a running list of all packages I need/want to install on a fresh copy of Fedora.

This behavior still exists in gnome-packagekit-installer 3.10.1-1 ...

I have been observing this behavior with various versions of packagekit for several years now. If the search text is highlighted and then pasted over (as opposed to typed over) the interface behaves as if the user pressed Enter (the right pane blanks, as if searching, and the search field locks, then the right pane populates with the prior search's content and the search field unlocks).

Example case:
-i search for nano
-i get results for nano
-i highlight "nano" in the search field, then paste "gimp" by pressing CTRL-V (also tried by right-clicking and selecting "Paste")
-the search field text is changed to "gimpnano" (or sometimes "nanogimp"), the search field is locked, and the right pane goes blank
-after a moment, the search field unlocks and the search results for nano reappear

-if i repeat the process at this point, the search field text changes to "gimpgimpnano" and it says no search results
