Bug 68629

Apper shows updates for installed packages are available, but after running yast online update nothing is there to be installed.
It turns out that apper flags every minute rpm version change as update, even if someone's home project got recompiled without change.
I don't need to install unchanged (but recompiled) rpms, and don't want to waste my bandwidth and disk space on such, but apper keeps on annoying me every morning about this. This makes apper less than useful as a warning tool for important security updates because it can't distinguish them from drivel, instead becoming the constant morning red light that might  as well be turned off because it serves no useful purpose.

After filing a bug with apper I'm told the problem is with the packagekit backend, in this case, zypp. The problem has existed for the last so many openSUSE versions and it makes the update warning system look pretty bad when it doesn't agree with yast online update (and wastes resources).

System: openSUSE 12.3 all updated, packagekit 0.8.7 (from system)

Apper warns each morning about available updates for rpms that have not been updated.

Expected Results:  
Warnings about important updates only, not unchanged rpms.

This today happens for me for the jailkit rpm (security repo) and gnuradio rpms (home:dl8fcl repo). I am interested to be told if newer versions areavailable, I am definitely not interested to be alerted whenever those get recompiled.
