log-level=debug

headset connected over bluetooth works fine with A2DP, but does not work with HSP.

i am running arch linux with KDE, kernel 4.9.0, bluez 5.43-2, pulseaudio 9.0-1.
i also tried pulseaudio from git (as of 29 Dec. 2016), same result.

attached file containt logging output by pulseaudio when switching from off to A2DP and playing audio in Chromium and when switching from off to HSP/HFP and trying to play audio in Chromium.

thx in advance

What do you mean by "does not work"? The log shows that the sink and source for HSP were created. If the issue is that the sink doesn't consume any audio, see this bug: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=97064

As can be seen from that bug, it might be a case of missing firmware for the bluetooth adapter, or maybe the adapter needs some extra configuration.

Hi Tanu,

thank you very much for your answer. You are right, i should have been more precise. The symptoms are exactly like you described in 97064, parecord does not move beyond 0 seconds.

i thought it would not be missing firmware, because everything else (wifi, bluetooth pairing and even A2DP) seem to work. On the other hand i see "firmware load failed" warnings from kernel:

ath10k_pci 0000:01:00.0: Direct firmware load for ath10k/pre-cal-pci-0000:01:00.0.bin failed with error -2
ath10k_pci 0000:01:00.0: Direct firmware load for ath10k/cal-pci-0000:01:00.0.bin failed with error -2
ath10k_pci 0000:01:00.0: qca9377 hw1.0 target 0x05020000 chip_id 0x003820ff sub 1a3b:2b31
ath10k_pci 0000:01:00.0: kconfig debug 0 debugfs 1 tracing 0 dfs 0 testmode 0
ath10k_pci 0000:01:00.0: firmware ver WLAN.TF.1.0-00267-1 api 5 features ignore-otp crc32 79cea2c7

i will ask the question about firmware or device configuration on the ath mailing list.

If you get it working, it would be great if you could write a comment to bug 97064 explaining what you had to do, so that others with the same problem can benefit from your research.
