Description Matthias Scheler 2019-02-04 12:09:31 UTC
When I log into a remote system from a Mac (macOS 10.14.3, can be produced with older versions as well) using "ssh -Y" and run Emacs over this connection, Emacs will open a window of the requested size and immediately resize it to a very small size which only leaves about 3 lines of text visible.

This happens to multiple people using multiple operating systems on the remote machine:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1353063
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=912696

In my case the target system runs OmniOS with Emacs 26.1 built from "pkgsrc".

The common factors seem to be:
- XQuartz
- Emacs 25 or 26 using the GTK+ 3 toolkit

I forgot to mention that this problem doesn't happen when I use the X server shipped with Ubuntu 18.04 inside a virtual machine.
