I am using the radeon driver (6.7.196) on a PowerBook (PowerBook3,5) and as of version 6.7.195 or so and the introduction of the MacModel option (set to "powerbook"), I can get DVI output working for my external monitor (a Dell 2405FPW). However, after a while (this varies between 5s and 10min), the external screen blanks and this seems to have nothing to do with DPMS. Also, xrandr reports that everything is just fine, the display is connected and used.
Better title.
please attach your xorg config and log.

Does this ati git master help?
Also, the proper MacModel should now be detected automatically in most cases.
I have tried 6.7.198~git20071223.ad3325f6-1 now. Indeed, I no longer have to add the MacModel option. However, this time my external display doesn't blank after a while, but is blanked already at X start (I see it get switched on though). When I try to access the menu of my display it claims to be in powersave mode. The xorg.conf is the same as I have attached before. I have added an updated logfile.

Also some xrandr output that might be useful (though it reports what I expect it to): Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 3200 x 1300, maximum 3200 x 1500 LVDS connected 1280x854+1920+446 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 21mm x 214mm 1280x854 60.0*+ 1280x800 60.0 1280x768 60.0 1024x768 60.0 800x600 60.3 640x480 59.9 DVI-0 connected 1920x1200+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 519mm x 324mm 1920x1200 60.0*+ 1600x1200 59.9 1680x1050 60.0 1280x1024 75.0 59.9 1152x864 74.8 1024x768 75.1 60.0 800x600 75.0 60.3 640x480 75.0 60.0 720x400 70.1 S-video disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)

Unfortunately no... X starts with the DVI-connected head blank/black.
is this still an issue with kms or newer versions of the driver?
(In reply to comment #12) > is this still an issue with kms or newer versions of the driver? I have moved in the meantime, have a new laptop and don't have this setup anymore. So, honestly, I don't know.
Closing then, thanks.
