Description Paul van Tilburg 2007-11-17 10:28:52 UTC
I am using the radeon driver (6.7.196) on a PowerBook (PowerBook3,5) and as of version 6.7.195 or so and the introduction of the MacModel option (set to "powerbook"), I can get DVI output working for my external monitor (a Dell 2405FPW).

However, after a while (this varies between 5s and 10min), the external screen blanks and this seems to have nothing to do with DPMS. Also, xrandr reports that everything is just fine, the display is connected and used.

Better title.

Does this ati git master help?
Comment 6 Alex Deucher 2007-12-11 09:34:43 UTC
Also, the proper MacModel should now be detected automatically in most cases.
Comment 7 Paul van Tilburg 2007-12-28 06:14:06 UTC
I have tried 6.7.198~git20071223.ad3325f6-1 now.
Indeed, I no longer have to add the MacModel option.

However, this time my external display doesn't blank after a while, but is blanked already at X start (I see it get switched on though). When I try to access the menu of my display it claims to be in powersave mode.

The xorg.conf is the same as I have attached before. I have added an updated logfile.

Also some xrandr output that might be useful (though it reports what I expect it to):

Does this patch help (against ati git master)?

Unfortunately no... X starts with the DVI-connected head blank/black.
Comment 12 Alex Deucher 2010-10-19 16:00:27 UTC
is this still an issue with kms or newer versions of the driver?

I have moved in the meantime, have a new laptop and don't have this setup anymore. So, honestly, I don't know.
