Description Jens Stroebel 2007-11-29 02:57:43 UTC
When using all parts of xorg git-checked-out at 2007-11-28
(xserver, drm, drm kernel modules, Mesa, xorg-libs, xorg-drivers) and kde-3.5.8, xorg crashes when glxgears is placed near the KDE panel (kicker) and a mouse-over "bubble" displayed by the kicker overlaps the area where glxgears has it's display.

The Xorg display freezes and X tries to restart, which fails. Afterwards, it is not possible to get Xorg to start but by re-booting the machine first.

conditions:

xorg from git 2007-11-28 (drm, drm-modules, Mesa, xserver, libs, drivers)
linux kernel 2.6.22.14

graphics chip intel 965GM in Dell latitude D830
Comment 3 Jens Stroebel 2007-12-10 04:56:48 UTC
with the current git versions of xorg
(xserver, libs, drivers, Mesa, drm), the effect no longer ocurs, bug seems to be fixed.

This is the case when using the kernel drm modules from git as well as when using the drm modules included in kernel 2.6.23.9.
Comment 4 Jens Stroebel 2007-12-12 08:31:11 UTC
It seems I made a mistake somewhere; the described effect still exists, but only when using the drm modules from git.

This is no longer true.
With all of xorg from git (2008-01-07), the effect occurs neither with the drm kernel modules from kernel 2.6.23.12 nor with those built from git.
