I have Intel's 845G on 2.4.25 kernel. I hane agpgart and intel_agp compiled as modules. On X.org 6.7.0, DRI worked with the i830 drm module. When I upgraded to X.org 6.8, DRI insisted to load i915 drm module. I installed the i915 module from 20040827 (Gentoo ebuild). Since then, X server fails to load drm, although the module is loaded, providing the message: (EE) I810(0): [drm] failure adding irq handler

have you got a dmesg maybe install the i915 driver with drm_opts=debug not sure what gentoo ebuild 20040827 is.. is it an Xorg tree or a DRM tree?
DRM tree. There is another ebuild for X.org 6.8.0.
How do I install with drm_opts=debug exactly? I moved to kernel 2.6.9-gentoo-r1. Now it works perfectly.
(In reply to comment #9) > I moved to kernel 2.6.9-gentoo-r1. > Now it works perfectly. I've found a patch for this bug, download it from: http://www.skynet.ie/~airlied/patches/dri/i915_linux.diff and apply it to the kernel: [/usr/src/linux] # cat i915_linux.diff | patch -p1 Then compile and install the new i915 module. Xfree 6.8.0 works perfectly now (same speed got under Xfree 4.3.0 && i810... so i've lost just three days of work with no reward :( )
