I tried to jhbuild cairomm and it failed badly with the following message:

You seem to have been building pangomm rather than cairomm. Could you file a bug in bugzilla.gnome.org for that, please.

Oh, you're right. This error is not related to cairomm but to pangomm. I'm sorry for that, I filed bug 548528 (http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=548528) to GNOMEs Bugzilla.

I'm closing this as NOTOURBUG as it seems the most appropriate to me.
