Hi Keith, in the process of building X.org packages for Debian, i noticed that the version of Xrender 0.8.4 shipped at http://pdx.freedesktop.org/~xlibs/release/ is not the same as 0.8.4 shipped inside the monolithic tree. The difference appears to be isolated to AddTrap.c and relavant include files. Wouldn't this change require a change in the version of the soname? Both the version generate so.1.2.2 but they are not the same and the new tree (can't remember exactly where) would fail to link/compile with the old 0.8.4 if shipped externaly (as Debian does). Regards Fabio PS nevermind that Debian still ships 0.8.3. I did my own test packages before reporting here.
The posted tarballs are total bong, and need to be updated; see http://freedesktop.org/~xlibs/xlibs-1.0.1/proposed-tarball/ for something which is far closer to accuracy.
