dmesg log

Hello,

I've just installed an old Radeon X600 card in my system but I get random Xorg crash when I play video files using XVideo extension.

dmesg is filled with:
[ 404.661224] [drm:radeon_ib_schedule] *ERROR* radeon: couldn't schedule IB(9).
[ 404.661233] [drm:radeon_cs_ioctl] *ERROR* Faild to schedule IB !
[ 464.661166] [drm:radeon_ib_schedule] *ERROR* radeon: couldn't schedule IB(10).
[ 464.661176] [drm:radeon_cs_ioctl] *ERROR* Faild to schedule IB !

I've got 2 displays, the one I mainly use is connected through DVI connector and the other is connected using VGA connector. When the crash happens, I get a black screen on both display but I can switch back to console and the VGA monitor is OK, while the DVI one is still black.

If it's of any help, I previously had a Radeon HD3450 and never got that kind of problem (using the radeon driver also).

Best regards

It's a GPU lock up. Make sure your kernel has this patch:
http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/airlied/drm-2.6.git;a=commitdiff;h=b7d8cce5b558e0c0aa6898c9865356481598b46d

Hello,

I've compiled a 2.6.37-rc3 kernel which has this patch and I still got an Xorg crash with a black screen on both displays.
I still get the same error in dmesg:
[ 1106.426631] [drm:radeon_ib_schedule] *ERROR* radeon: couldn't schedule IB(15).
[ 1106.428354] [drm:radeon_cs_ioctl] *ERROR* Failed to schedule IB !

Mass closure: This bug has been untouched for more than six years, and is not
obviously still valid. Please reopen this bug or file a new report if you continue to experience issues with current releases.
