I love Ati, KMS and OpenSource, but this Radeon Driver is at the Time not usable. I hope this will be better in the Future. I do'nt wish to use binary blow ati-drivers. At the moment in PC is my old nVidia cards. I am waiting for better Radeon Driver. If I will switch Programs, there is higher CPU usage of /usr/bin/X to 100% and Sound don't works then. A minut or two this happens. This is very often. I have this seen with htop. In Fluxbox I ca'nt use normaly Mouse to call Fluxbox Menu. This is for all Commands too. Very often I have had X Server segfault and crach. I can't use good 3D games (Vega Strike) and many 2D ar'nt the best. Have 5830 Ati Radeon Evergreen, have DRM and Kernel Confiuration for Radeon and KMS. Regards, I have all 9999 Versions and Kernel is adjusted for KMS according to http://wiki.x.org/wiki/radeonBuildHowTo ~ $ dmesg | egrep "drm|radeon" [ 7.879318] [drm] Initialized drm 1.1.0 20060810 [ 8.385573] [drm] radeon defaulting to kernel modesetting. the 2D segfaults are probably the same issue as bug 32188. The other issues should have separate bugs. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 32188 ***
