Description Frank Ch. Eigler 2005-06-17 12:36:29 UTC
transcribed from bug report @ URL:

If the ipv6 protocol is disabled, for example by adding "alias net-pf-10 off"
into /etc/modprobe.conf, lbxproxy gets into an endless initialization loop.
It prints lines about being unable to open companion ipv6 listening sockets,
then tries again at port N+1, and so on, ad infinitum. It doesn't get to
actually starting to work, even on the existing ipv4 socket. (Actually,
it's *sockets*, since it creates hundreds of ipv4 ones in the loop.)

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

xorg-x11-6.8.2-1.FC3.13

To reproduce:

Turn off ipv6. Reboot machine. Start X session. Run "lbxproxy". It may
spew a lot of text instead of being nice and quiet, and actually working.

And on version xorg-x11-server-utils-1.0.1-1.2 (FC5) same with IPv6, but also
if IPv6 support enabled lbxproxy segfault.

Comment 2 Daniel Stone 2006-06-01 14:39:33 UTC
lbx is being removed for 7.2
Comment 3 Mike A. Harris 2006-06-06 02:36:14 UTC
Actually, LBX was removed for 7.1 unless I've missed the ball. ;)
Comment 4 Alan Coopersmith 2006-06-06 08:00:29 UTC
You missed it. LBX was ripped out of the server code after the 7.1 release.
