3) What is expected to happen in LibreOffice Writer via the Terminal:

unoconv --listener && cd ~/Desktop && wget https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+bug/57828/+attachment/2126289/+files/30_02.rtf && unoconv -f odt 30_02.rtf && lowriter -nologo 30_02.odt

is one can open the file.

4) What happens instead is a window pops up noting:

LibreOffice 3.3
Read-Error.
Error reading file.

Problem exists in:

lsb_release -rd

However, the issue is resolved in LibreOffice 3.4.2 OOO340m1 (Build:203), Microsoft Windows Vista Business 6.0.6002 Service Pack 2 Build 6002.

Unreproducible in LibreOffice 3.4.2.
