Screenshot showing the bug

In my Acer TravelMate 7720G and the graphics card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2400 XT HyperMemory, after updating Xorg server, Xorg driver and related packages which Ubuntu 11.04 provides, my desktop is unusable now:

It appears black and white colours - I've been able to record a screenshot using keys, see it in the attached file.

Now the desktop works correctly only when I use the "booting in safe mode" option.

I've selected the Driver/radeon component but I don't know exactly the component I have to choose - it forces me to choose one

Can you narrow down which update caused the issue?

I use this PPA: http://ppa.launchpad.net/xorg-edgers/ppa/ubuntu

So you can see the packages I'm currently using in:
http://ppa.launchpad.net/xorg-edgers/ppa/ubuntu/dists/natty/main/binary-i386/Packages

Does disabling colortiling help?
Option "ColorTiling" "False"
in the device section of your xorg.conf

System freezes in the Ubuntu logo when I use ColorTiling "False" option.

What commands exactly do you want me to run?

videoclocknet, Ubuntu 11.04 reached EOL as of October 28, 2012. For more on this, please see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases .

If this is reproducible in a supported release, it will help immensely if you filed a new report with Ubuntu by ensuring you have the package xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for attaching additional debugging information running the following from a terminal:
ubuntu-bug xorg

Also, please feel free to subscribe me to it.
