And left me with the latest kernel, which doesn't boot on my machine. I can't really give you any debug details, as the machine won't boot anymore.

Ick, sorry. I assume this was with zif, and not yum? If so, what does yum do if it's set to keep 3 kernels installed... Does it install more and more kernels if you don't restart in the meantime?

I'm guessing that it would remove the oldest non-running kernel. I haven't checked this though, as I only have one kernel now :)
