I am running the newest ATI opensource drivers on bleeding edge Archlinux Linux distribution. I experienced that moving windows is very smooth like scrolling but resizing windows is very choppy.

Note that this isn't a video glitch with the lag. It's lagging really.

I'm afraid it may be unrealistic for this to become much better without something like Wayland.

Also note that xchat isn't exactly famous for efficient text rendering.
