after loading modules xserver exit with (in log file): no devices no screens fatal xserver error hardware: hd5470 on hp g72 notebook
Please attach your xorg log and dmesg output. Are you using fglrx or the open source driver? Also is this a hybrid laptop with multiple GPUs?
my notebook have processor i3 with i915 graphic and radeon hd5470. catalyst driver have blackscreen ,too.also hybrid graphic
This assignee is for the open source driver. As for hybrid laptops, you'll probably have to boot up with the integrated card then install fglrx and use aticonfig to set up the which gpu you want to use.

Looks like perhaps you didn't install the driver correctly? [ 518.464] (II) fglrx(0): === [xdl_xs110_atiddxPreInit] === begin [ 518.464] (II) fglrx(0): PowerXpress: Discrete GPU is selected. [ 518.464] (EE) fglrx(0): PowerXpress: Cannot stat '/usr/lib64/fglrx': No such file or directory [ 518.464] (EE) fglrx(0): PowerXpress: Fail to switch libGL link files. [ 518.464] (WW) fglrx(0): PreInit PowerXpress failed!
I have installed new fglrx and fglrx-update packages and i got: no devices no screens there is probably no device file in /dev.Perhaps udev works not correctly. The same I got for intel driver.
