(In reply to comment #4) > Black screen with KMS on kernels 3.5-3.7, no logs. I presume that means the screen goes black when radeon KMS initializes, and after a reboot there's nothing about it in log files? Have you tried waiting for a couple of minutes to see if it comes up eventually? Did it work with 3.4 or older kernels? > With 'nomodeset' option it works but X crashes later. If you mean what's shown in the attached Xorg.0.log, that's because xf86-video-ati 7.0 no longer works without KMS. P.S. Please don't attach compressed files unless necessary.

Last working kernel was 3.4. > If you mean what's shown in the attached Xorg.0.log, that's because > xf86-video-ati 7.0 no longer works without KMS. ok
(In reply to comment #5) > Last working kernel was 3.4. Can you bisect between 3.4 and 3.5?
You could check if radeon.r4xx_atom=1 kernel parameter makes a difference.
(In reply to comment #7) > You could check if radeon.r4xx_atom=1 kernel parameter makes a difference. No difference
Bisect result: 2099810f903caa1920f3ef6014fb7f36e4786490 drm/radeon: enable pci bus mastering after card is initialised (v2) Built the latest kernel from git without this patch - KMS works.
