I cannot get any audio out of the mainboards HDMI port. The system is booted with radeon.audio=1, the HDMI port is listed correctly in aplay -l and every channel is unmuted. I tried the kernels 3.9.x, 3.10.x and 3.11-rc3. Audio works with the fglrx driver.
Not even a dmesg? :(

This is ARUBA, which means DCE6.1 (see http://xorg.freedesktop.org/wiki/RadeonFeature/) Unfortunately audio is supported on DCE2 to DCE5 only. Right now I'm too busy with commercial projects to work on DCE6 :(
Ok, good to know. At least I know I'm not doing something wrong. Thanks for the info
We've working on support for DCE6+ audio internally. We'll hopefully be able to release something soon.
Nice, let me know if I can assist you with some testing
You can also watch my poor tries on dri-devel, for example: [PATCH 1/2] drm/radeon: use loop for initializing AFMT blocks http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/dri-devel/2013-August/042678.html [PATCH V2 2/2] drm/radeon: initialize AFMT blocks on DCE6 http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/dri-devel/2013-August/042679.html [PATCH] drm/radeon: add very basic support for audio block on DCE6 http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/dri-devel/2013-August/042743.html
I just tested the linux 3.12-r1 kernel and hdmi audio is working, thanks guys!!
