When I try to save changes made to a CALC template .ots file (not a file based on the template), without changing the file name or file type, LibreOffice wrongfully assumes it is a non-ODF format and thus a Microsoft Excel Format. But it is not. This only works if the option "warn me when not saving in ODF" is aplied (see https://help.libreoffice.org/Common/General_10#Warn_when_not_saving_in_ODF_or_default_format). Apparently the scope of the warning is narrowed down to the actual file type while it should be widened to the file format "Open Document Format" and the file types associated with that. It does not happen in WRITER when opening, changing and saving a .ott text template which is not identical to an .odt text file. Hi Mike, thanks for reporting the issue. I've tested in 4.1.3.2 and 4.2.0.beta2 on Ubuntu. In both cases I do not have the problem. So it looks as a Windows specific problem ? Cheers, Cor
Hi, Here is what I tried with LO Portable 4.0.1.2 under Windows 7. 1. Open Calc. 2. create a template (.ots) and save 3. elect to edit the template 4. make a change 5. save - no message 6. save as - no message I checked the warning option is applied Can you attach the template to this message?
Created attachment 90527 [details] Problematic template This file was an Excel 2003 template (xlt file) that I opened in LibreOffice around two years ago and saved as Calc template ots file. After that I made several changes to it and saved it without any problems.
Created attachment 90528 [details] Renamed and odf file to ots, no problem
I find it hard to reproduce the bug myself. The bug only seems to show with the file "ex_Excel_template.ots" which was an Excel template in an earlier life. I tried it with XP Pro with LibO 4.1.3.2 on a different computer and got the same bug that LibreOffice assumes it was a non-ODF format and a Microsoft Excel Format. The bug is not reproducable with a new ots-file which I got by renaming and odf-file, which most probably is something one should not do anyway. This "bug" therefore is most probably not a LibreOffice bug and I guess the file ("ex_Excel_template.ots") simply contains some leftover from the old Microsoft file format I set the importance of the bug to the lowest and named it a triviality. Thank you for your help and attention all the same.
Hi Mike, the fact you created the template in excel interested me. I only have office 2007 and tried the same trick - no joy. Unless you get any inspiration I think we have to leave it here Cheers
Yes, it ´s odd but obviously not a bug. Thanks everybody
