I have come across a issue where the graphical interface locks up with the following corrupted screen: http://i.stack.imgur.com/xIG9s.jpg Hardware: Asus F1A75-M with AMD A4-3400 connected to Samsung TV via a pioneer VSX=827 receiver via HDMI. ------------- X.org log: http://paste.ubuntu.com/6990976/ Kernel modeset option active of not doest not influence the behavior. ------------- apt-cache policy xserver-xorg-video-radeon xserver-xorg-video-radeon: Installed: 1:7.3.99+git20140206.8de6f7b2-0ubuntu0sarvatt~saucy Candidate: 1:7.3.99+git20140206.8de6f7b2-0ubuntu0sarvatt~saucy Version table: *** 1:7.3.99+git20140206.8de6f7b2-0ubuntu0sarvatt~saucy 0 500 http://ppa.launchpad.net/xorg-edgers/ppa/ubuntu/ saucy/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 1:7.3+git1401241930.8de6f7~gd~s 0 500 http://ppa.launchpad.net/wsnipex/mesa/ubuntu/ saucy/main amd64 Packages 1:7.2.0-0ubuntu10 0 500 http://nl.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ saucy/main amd64 Packages ------ kernel 3.13.5 installed as specified on http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=174854 ------- dmesg log: http://paste.ubuntu.com/6990975/
Is this a regression? Did it work previously? If so what version? Also, please attach your dmesg and xorg log to the bug directly so they don't disappear if the pastebins do.

I don´t get your question w.r.t. regression... Could you reformulate/be more specific? It is a Ubuntu saucy (13.10) mini installation for AMD64. The xorg version is 1.14.5. For testing purposes I have upgraded the kernel and xorg to a recent version, from the repository https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa. This did not solve the issue.

(In reply to comment #5) Ok, clear now. It did not work right after I installed ubuntu 13.10. Then I did the update of the kernel and moved to the xorg-edgers repository. This did not solve the issue. I have no experience with versions of the OSS radeon driver in ubuntus before 13.10, since I always have been using fglrx till now. I could test older versions if this does help you.
jochemvissers@gmail.com, Ubuntu Saucy reached EOL on July 17, 2014. For more on this, please see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases . If this is reproducible in a supported release, it will help immensely if you filed a new report with Ubuntu by ensuring you have the package xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for attaching additional debugging information running the following from a terminal: ubuntu-bug xorg Also, please feel free to subscribe me to it.
