Description David Magalhães Sousa 2014-08-12 17:19:59 UTC
I'm building a calc spreadsheet for statistics and it's getting very big.

I already selected the option for manual calculation (pressing F9 to execute all calculations) but when I reopen the file, it starts recalculating everything again.

I just want it to open and stay "quiet" so I can continue editing.

The loading at the beggining and the saving takes loads of time. That I can understand, as the file is very big and full of information. No problem there.

Note: I don't have any volatile formulas like RANDOM. (If I'm not mistaken)

Note 2: 16GB RAM, i7 CPU and a fast SSD.

Thank you!

@ David Magalhães Sousa
Can you please attach a sample for us to reproduce this behavior?

Thanks

On both 4.2.4.2 and 4.4.0.0.alpha0+ Build ID: b732ba336af1d4c9a3d2780ecca7ce3231187f96, I can confirm that this file will load and then calculate.

unchecking Tools->Cell Contents->Autocalculate does not stop the calculating on load.

We need a calc guru to look at this and decide if it's a bug with Autocalculate or a feature request.

** Please read this message in its entirety before responding **

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present on a currently supported version of LibreOffice (5.0.0.5 or later)
   https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the version of LibreOffice and your operating system, and any changes you see in the bug behavior

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a short comment that includes your version of LibreOffice and Operating System

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:

1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3)

http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.

4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to "inherited from OOo";
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add "regression" to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=libreoffice-qa

Thank you for your help!

David Magalhães Sousa,
You've removed the file. Can you please share it again, so we can test this issue?
Comment 6 Luke 2015-12-14 02:06:31 UTC
I'm closing this bug, because the submitter has stopped sharing the test file from his Google drive account. Without a test file, there no way to work on this bug.

If David decides to share the file again, we can reopen this issue.
