Partially fixed, we don't crash anymore but acroread is able to render some part of the page more than us.

Fix for crash

I get a crash again on latest git (831288c13). This attached patch fixes it. I suspect codingLine[0] = codingLine[1] = w; is sufficient, but I don't know enough about the encoding implemented to the confident in this.

And I just sent a (one line :D) patch to the mailing list to fix the rendering issue.
