Description Ben Byer 2007-09-10 04:57:36 UTC
When trying to run Inkscape on an OS X system using the X server from X11R7.2, we're seeing the following issue:

* SUMMARY
Clicking the font dropdown in Inkscape causes X11 to become generally unresponsive; not only does Inkscape freeze up, but other X11 programs seem to stop responding to clicks as well.

* STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Get inkscape (open source) from www.inkscape.org and run it. You'll have to have X11 running before you double-click its icon, since its launcher hasn't been up Leopardized yet.
2. Activate font dropdown by following instructions in screenshot.

* RESULTS
Inkscape hangs, all of X11 seems to be ignoring clicks.

Backtrace of Inkscape when it locks up:

      6435 pango_cairo_error_underline_path
        6435 cairo_scaled_font_create
          6435 _cairo_scaled_font_is_ft
            6435 _cairo_ft_unscaled_font_unlock_face
              6435 _cairo_ft_unscaled_font_unlock_face
                6435 0x13c82fa
                  6435 abort

I know this may or may not actually be a cairo problem, but any hints how I might narrow it down?

At some point over the past 9 years, this seems to have been fixed.
