The gliph for capital letter a with a tilde (Á) shows as an inverted admiration sign. I've discover it while trying to write "Ánodo" (anodus in spanish) in Open Office. Also shows wrong when font is embedded as a subset in a PDF document. Others DejaVu fonts set are OK.

Which platform and what version of DejaVu are you using? The glyph is correct in the font, as far as I know, so either the application you use has a bug or the packaged version you have buggy.
Also, does the wrong glyph show up in other programs as well?
Maybe it is a problem with font caching while installing a newer version. In that case rebooting your computer would fix it.
Your Description shows the character Á (U+00C1 LATIN CAPITAL LETTER A WITH ACUTE) and not à (U+00C3 LATIN CAPITAL LETTER A WITH TILDE). The character names in the UCS and Unicode follow the French for acute, grave, tilde, diaeresis, etc. I don’t know whether they have the same names in Spanish. Is it possible that you are getting the wrong character from your input system rather than the wrong glyph from the font?

Thank you for helping correcting and clarifying this question. In Spanish we only have tilde. We distinguish the position in the word to say it is acute (agudo), grave or "esdrújula" (no translation to english). It is a linguistic distinction, not a caligraphic.
