Hi,

I'm trying to use an ATI card with dual head, but after
xrandr --auto --output DVI-I_2/analog --right-of DVI-I_1/analog
both monitors show the left half of the virtual screen. After
xrandr --auto --output DVI-I_2/analog --left-of DVI-I_1/analog
both show the right half of the screen.

xrandr --output DVI-I_2/analog off
works fine, and turns the monitor on the right off.

Also I was using urxvt + screen, launched with
urxvt +sb -keysym.Caps_Lock "^p" -e screen
(to use the Caps lock key as escape key in screen).
It never locked up before, but after I started using the radeonhd driver it has locked up twice (I don't know if it was urxvt or screen).

Don't mix --auto with multiple outputs and rearranging.
Do
  xrandr --auto
  xrandr --output DVI-I_2/analog --right-of DVI-I_1/analog
instead.

Please verify and close if this works.

Can you create a log file with -logverbose 7 (9 clutters the log file too much) and annotate when you invoked the two xrandr commands?

Because I cannot reproduce that here.

Are you using a recent xrandr (git)? Can you also add --verbose to the xrandr calls, and post the output?

Hm, this clearly looks like an too old xrandr (only current git is good enough) - but I thought we discussed this on the ML and you had a recent one.

Try

xrandr --verbose --output DVI-I_2/analog --auto --crtc 1
xrandr --verbose --output DVI-I_2/analog --right-of DVI-I_1/analog

and/or

xrandr --verbose --auto
xrandr --verbose --output DVI-I_2/analog --crtc 1
xrandr --verbose --output DVI-I_2/analog --right-of DVI-I_1/analog

after a fresh startup, each. And verify the version of xrandr you're using. No log file necessary for that, just the output of xrandr if it doesn't work.

This version works OK. Except after I run
 xrandr --output DVI-I_2/analog --right-of DVI-I_1/analog
The display on the monitor on the right is corrupted: everything has a purple or yellow color. I have to exit the X window session, log back in and run xrandr again to get it right.
