Using gnash instead of swfdec, I rarely get crashes for the same sites (if I get any).
Also, swfdec is particularly 'crashy' after 0.5.3 or 0.5.4 I think. The frequent crashes that I' m reporting here appeared in late releases. Before these releases, swfdec pluggin rarely caused firefox to crash. Maybe it has to do with something that was introduced lately?
Also, if that's somehow useful, I' m using precompiled packages provided in Archlinux official x86-64 repositories.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug.
Without a stack trace from the crash it's very hard to determine what caused it.
Can you get us a stack trace? Please see http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces for more information on how to do so. Thanks in advance!

Sure, but since there are no debug packages for my distro, I should recompile them to take a stack trace. What packages, besides swfdec, do you think I should recompile? Are those that my distro's packaging system reports as dependencies fore swfdec enough?
Comment 3 Benjamin Otte 2008-01-25 12:25:28 UTC
Recompiling swfdec and swfdec-mozilla should be enough in 90% of the cases. If it's not, I can tell you after having seen the stack trace.

This shouldn't happen anymore with current git, as that part of the code has been rewritten, so you could either try compiling git or wait for 0.5.6 and then test again.
Comment 6 Riccardo Magliocchetti 2008-04-11 09:08:14 UTC
Petros, could you please compile a new version (0.6.4) and retry?
Comment 7 Riccardo Magliocchetti 2008-05-28 01:55:10 UTC
Please reopen if it still happens with a newer version of swfdec.
