Current (incorrect) rendering

The glyph U+00E5 LATIN SMALL LETTER A WITH RING ABOVE "å" has a broken ring at small font sizes (9, 11, 12, 13 px). This happens with version 2.23.

I tried to regenerate hints and instructions (AutoHint/AutoInstr) with FontForge and the broken ring problem goes away, but then the ring gets moved a bit to the left instead (it should be centered over the "a")... However I don't have any experience of font editing so I doubt I'll be able to fix this problem myself.

Here the corresponding bug in the Ubuntu tracker:

That's actually a FreeType bug, and we've told them about it a long time ago: http://www.mail-archive.com/freetype-devel%40nongnu.org/msg02184.html and https://savannah.nongnu.org/bugs/?func=detailitem&item_id=20973

I guess we'll have to nudge them to finally fix it... Or maybe the Swedish community can push them a bit :-)

Greetings
Ben

Mass move of freetype bugs to the new freetype product

Reopen the NOTOURBUG reports now they're correctly affected

This has been fixed in the mean time.
