'man mousedrv' says that the "Device" option for InputDevice is mandatory. I commented it out and Xorg and my mouse still works. It say Emulate3Buttons is off by default. When I comment it out in xorg.conf, then it defaults to enabled. ~$ dpkg -l "*xserver*" | grep ii ii x11-xserver-utils 7.3+2 X server utilities ii xserver-xorg 1:7.3+10ubuntu7 the X.Org X server ii xserver-xorg-core 2:1.4.1~git20080131-1ubuntu7 Xorg X server - core server ii xserver-xorg-input-all 1:7.3+10ubuntu7 the X.Org X server -- input driver metapacka ii xserver-xorg-input-elographics 1:1.1.0-3 X.Org X server -- ELOGraphics input driver ii xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:1.2.0-1ubuntu2 X.Org X server -- evdev input driver ii xserver-xorg-input-kbd 1:1.2.2-3ubuntu1 X.Org X server -- keyboard input driver ii xserver-xorg-input-mouse 1:1.2.3-2 X.Org X server -- mouse input driver Using Ubuntu 8.04 beta.
