Xorg.0.log

Running radeonhd updated from git as of 2008-04-12 16:21:42 CET.

Possibly dupe/related to #14772 and #13605: The X server starts and runs, but the screen either remains blank, switching back and forth between analog and digital, finding no signal, or goes black, with a short flicker from the backlight every two seconds or so. From the log file, the monitor seems to be detected correctly, with the same modeline as reported when using the old radeon driver (which works). After restarting the X server several times or using Option "HPD" swap or off, the monitor is not reported correctly, and of course still gives no picture.

Conntest result:
rhd_conntest: v1.2.0, git branch master, commit 19c048d3
Checking connectors on 0x7280, 0x148C, 0x2223 (@01:00:00):
  Load Detection: RHD_OUTPUT_NONE
  HotPlug: RHD_HPD_1
  DDC: RHD_DDC_0

Can you check whether our current git still displays this behaviour. I just fixed an issue with the exact same mode on a sapphire rv570.

No, it still doesn't work properly, but I think you're on the right track. I can log in, start an xterm and change resolution with xrandr -s 4 (I didn't realise that ctrl-alt-+/- doesn't work, so I hadn't tried this before), then I get picture, but only with 1152x864 and some of the lower resolutions.

That looks interesting. Can you post a new logfile?

Kjetil:

This seems to be using TMDSB (LVTMA block), is the blank screen also true for the other DVI connector (using TMDSA)?

radeonhd log file, working after xrandr -s 4 and -s 2

Newer log file. Both connectors show the same behaviour: I get no display until I run xrandr -s 2 (1280x1024 now also working).
Comment 6 Egbert Eich 2008-06-22 08:11:18 UTC
Kjetil: it seems that you still cannot set a 1900x1200 mode but lower resolutions work fine (like 1280x1024). I assume '-s 4' gets you 1152x864.
Have you tried 1600x1200?

Sorry for slow response. Yes, I had tried 1600x1200, and it didn't work then, but it has started working with later versions, and works now. Still no picture with 1920x1200, though.

Does this issue occur with the preferred ati driver (xf86-vide-ati)? If so, please move this to the Driver/Radeon component.

Development of radeonhd has pretty much halted and development focus is on the ati driver. Please see http://www.x.org/wiki/radeonhd

If the issue does not exist in the ati driver (or if there is no response to this message), this bug will be closed as WONTFIX unless someone contributes a patch.
Comment 9 Jeremy Huddleston Sequoia 2011-11-07 15:06:39 UTC
Closing due to lack of response. Please reopen and move to the Driver/Radeon
component if this issue persists with xf86-video-ati
