Description Steven Garrity 2008-05-17 19:13:14 UTC
I have my Thinkpad T60 (ATI X1400) setup to not go to sleep when closing the lid. It does turn off the screen when it closes (as it should). However, with radeonhd, when I re-open the laptop lid, the screen is garbled (hard to describe - mostly black, a few weird colors/characters - looks like a broken command line).

I'm running a stock install of Fedora 9. Let me know if any more information would be helpful.

Seems to be fixed in the kernel with

  http://linux.derkeiler.com/Mailing-Lists/Kernel/2008-05/msg03361.html

So, not our bug :)

Steven, can you please try our git driver, and provide a log of an Xorg -logverbose 7 with these exact symptoms?

I'm afraid we've hit the limits of my competency level. I don't think I'm smart enough to install/run the git version. If you can provide more information on how to get the log info, I can try that.

Running "rpm -q xorg-x11-drv-radeonhd" will list the git commit number the your drive has been built from. That is always useful to include in bug reports.

I'll build new F9 packages as git snapshots probably this weekend.

Besides, I'm also running a Thinkpad T60 (ATI X1400) here (model 2007), so I will try to confirm.

xorg-x11-drv-radeonhd-1.2.1-2.20080605git.fc9.src.rpm
git commit 26ccf1177465beb2db5a2c972dd7adc17c3f457b

Soon to arrive in updates-testing on a yum mirror near you.

Usually the lid event will only turn off the backlight. This shouldn't mess up the screen. it could be that some lid event handler tries to do something smart - like vt-switching.
Steven, can you VT switch back and forth between the server and the console?
Please use one of ndims latest drivers. Thanks!

THis problem is most likely related to SMI. It should be fixed with the merger of the atombios_support branch.
Comment 9 Egbert Eich 2008-08-29 04:59:26 UTC
The AtomBIOS code has been merged. So I assume this issue is fixed. Please retest.
Comment 10 Egbert Eich 2008-11-01 14:37:25 UTC
No feedback for 2 month. However I assume the issue is fixed. Closing.
