Description Fabio Pedretti 2008-10-08 09:05:34 UTC
Bicubic filter on by default for Xv is nice because improve perceived video quality on full screen videos. However it would be nice to have a way to disable it for at least the following reasons:
1) it may slowdowns decoding (though i didn't do any testing);
2) although it improves the perceived quality it also causes loss of detail on the image and many people prefer to disable this type of effects (as many people disable post-processing filters in their video players);
3) it can overlap with other post-processing filters enabled by video players (that may be better).

Thanks

You can disable it on the fly using the XV_BICUBIC Xv attribute. You can use an app like xvattr to change Xv attributes.
