Description Pedro Villavicencio 2009-03-17 13:33:45 UTC
this report has been filed here:

https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/poppler/+bug/247113

"If you create sheet music with Lilypond the vertical bars are too thick in Evince. Especially the bars are much more thicker when you print it and thats what you normally do with sheet music. If you print the same PDF (created by Lilypond) with Acrobat Reader the bars are correct.

I added a sample Lilypond file and the corresponding PDF file. To reproduce it, print it with Acrobat Reader and then with Evince and you will see the difference. I have also added a screenshot with both applications zoomed in. The difference in the screenshots are marginal, but the difference in the hardcopy are huge."

thanks in advance,

You mean the error is when printing?
Comment 2 Benjamin Drung 2009-03-19 14:20:05 UTC
No, the error is only more clearly when printing, but you can also see the difference when zooming in.

I have to correct me. Not the vertical bars are too thick. It is the other way around, the horizontal lines are too small. The stems are smaller than they should be, too.

I know that this comment is not really useful, but I'd like to point out that, unfortunately, this bug is still not fixed in the newest version of Poppler (FC15: 0.16.7-1.fc15). I would really appreciate if someone could try to fix this bug (unfortunately I'm not able to do so) because due to this bug I cannot use Evince/Okular to print sheet music created with Lilypond.
Comment 4 madbiologist 2012-10-09 12:15:22 UTC
There were a couple of fixes in poppler 0.17.3 which should fix this problem - see http://poppler.freedesktop.org/releases.html
Comment 5 Albert Astals Cid 2012-11-19 21:24:16 UTC
I'm closing this bug, please try to use a version newer than what madbiologist suggests and if the problem still happens please reopen the bug.
Comment 6 Christopher M. Penalver 2014-12-13 03:47:14 UTC
Reopening:
1) lsb_release -rd
Description:	Ubuntu Vivid Vervet (development branch)
Release:	15.04

2) libpoppler* 0.28.1-1ubuntu1

apt-cache policy evince
evince:
  Installed: 3.14.1-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 3.14.1-0ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 3.14.1-0ubuntu1 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ vivid/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

3) What is expected to happen is when one creates the following PDF attachment ( https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/poppler/+bug/247113/+attachment/316292/+files/sample.pdf ) via Lilypond, the bars look as they do in Adobe Reader.

4) what happens instead is that some of the bars are the wrong thikcness as per the screenshot:
