Description Adam K Kirchhoff 2009-04-20 10:27:12 UTC
I recently wanted to try the radeonhd driver again after not using it for a while. I changed my xorg.conf file to load the radeonhd driver and restarted X. Unfortunately xrandr only lists 640x480, 800x600, and 1024x768 for both monitors (both LCD, one a VA902b and one a VA1309wmb). The VA902b should give 1280x1024 and the VA1309wmb should do 1440x900. Both work at their preferred resolution with the radeon driver. I will attach Xorg.0.log with -logverbose 7 for both radeon and radeonhd.

This morning, while playing around with different Modelines and the PreferredMode option in both monitor sections, it started working. I can't reproduce the problem, even after commening out the monitors and power cycling. I'll heave this bug open for now in case the problem returns. I'm attaching a new Xorg.0.log file that shows it detecting the EDID.

Does this issue occur with the preferred ati driver (xf86-vide-ati)? If so, please move this to the Driver/Radeon component.

Development of radeonhd has pretty much halted and development focus is on the ati driver. Please see http://www.x.org/wiki/radeonhd

If the issue does not exist in the ati driver (or if there is no response to this message), this bug will be closed as WONTFIX unless someone contributes a patch.
