Description Filipp Andjelo 2009-05-17 05:16:38 UTC
I'm using ArchLinux (i686). Since I updated to xorg-server 1.6 the 3D performance is extremely decreased, about factor 6x! I found many forums discussing this problem, but nobody seems to made a bugreport. My system is running on ATI Radeon Xpress 200m, but I've found that many other low-end/older ATI graphic chips, f.e. 9200, are suffering under this issue.
Log files doesn't report any errors and, according to glxinfo, direct rendering is on. glxgears renders only at ~150fps, tuxracer and/or Enemy Territory are not playable anymore. I like this game and normally it's an ego-shooter, but currently it's more like a turn-based strategy game :)
Would be nice, if s.o. could care about the problem. Say me which additional info is needed.

Your /var/log/Xorg.0.log plus output of
LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose glxgears
(stop glxgears after you see first frame) will be a good point to start.
