log of startx -- -logverbose 7

Hi,

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T400 with this Radeon card:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Mobility Radeon HD 3400 Series

For some reason, the driver reports this error message in the log:

(EE) RADEONHD(0): rhdAtomLvdsDDC: unknown record type: 0
(II) RADEONHD(0): Query for AtomBIOS Get Panel EDID: failed

Oddly enough, I am able to see Panel modes in xrandr.

I can't seem to force any modes upon my TV, connected via VGA_1, but that may well be an unrelated problem.

The entire verbose Xorg log file is attached (300KB), and this is xrandr output under the same session:

Comment 1 Jeremy Huddleston Sequoia 2011-10-16 15:57:49 UTC
Does this issue occur with the preferred ati driver (xf86-vide-ati)? If so, please move this to the Driver/Radeon component.

Development of radeonhd has pretty much halted and development focus is on the ati driver. Please see http://www.x.org/wiki/radeonhd

If the issue does not exist in the ati driver (or if there is no response to this message), this bug will be closed as WONTFIX unless someone contributes a patch.

Well it was about time someone got back to me, even if with an automated
message :)

In the meantime I found that xf86-video-ati was working better and started
using it. I don't think either of the radeonhd bugs I filed apply to it.
Comment 3 Jeremy Huddleston Sequoia 2011-10-17 02:09:46 UTC
It wasn't automated. It was just a mass update to this component.

Sorry this bugzilla doesn't get the love it deserves. I'm trying to change
that.
