Xorg.0.log

The commit: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/driver/xf86-video-radeonhd/commit/?id=de3f80bc6ec2adaab40912fee92fe5f38564d1fe breaks backlight control on my X1400 (Dell Inspiron 9400).

The backlight also is on lowest level (nearly black).
I can change the level with xrandr and the new level is shown correctly in the panels properties, but in fact the backlight stays dark.

Reverting the commit makes controling the backlight via Fn+arrow-down and Fn+arrow-up work again.
Using xrandr does not work, of course

Xorg.0.log is attached.

I have the same problem too...

OS: FreeBSD 8 Current (UP TO Wed Aug 12 16:52:20 MSD 2009)
Xorg: xorg-server-1.6.1,1

When i run X with port x11-drivers/xf86-video-radeonhd-devel (xf86-video-radeonhd-1.2.5.20090808) i have same problem.

When i run X with port x11-drivers/xf86-video-radeonhd (xf86-video-radeonhd-1.2.5) all is fine.

This happens only with radeonhd driver, not with radeon. At least for me.
Comment 5 Jens Lody 2009-10-06 03:52:38 UTC
Commit 4758ba31d49dbafb1e8c9e19aad84d41183c7f19 (Add ACPI controlled Backlight support for Linux)
fixes the bug for me.

Many thanks.
