In -Werror are intrested only developers. It should not be turned on by default (although it is good there is ./configure option to disable it).

MC 5 builds tagged releases/tarballs without -Werror, and random development versions from git with -Werror by default. This is the normal Telepathy policy.

If you're not interested in developing MC, we advise using a released version (packages from your distribution, a tarball, or a tag from git).

Ups. I usually checks the configure from gitweb from given tag as it is easier to read it - hence my mistake. Change from WONTFIX to NOTABUG.
