If I try to use the radeon-driver instead of radeonhd my display stays dark although no error seems to show up in Xorg.1.log;
using ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2700 (2600 should be supported)

xorg-x11-server-7.4-56.1

Does it work any better with 6.12.4 or git master?
Comment 2 Elmar Stellnberger 2009-10-12 09:19:39 UTC
will xorg-x11-driver-video-7.4-128.2.x86_64  be o.k.?

Yes. that should contain 6.12.4. If that doesn't help, you should try git master.
Comment 4 Elmar Stellnberger 2009-10-13 09:20:00 UTC
resolved: xorg-x11-driver-video-7.4-83.3.
Comment 5 Elmar Stellnberger 2009-10-14 08:59:01 UTC
Still occurs with "radeon.modeset=0" kernel parameter, xorg-x11-driver-video-7.4-83.3.
Comment 6 Alex Deucher 2009-12-10 07:57:08 UTC
If this still an issue with xf86-video-ati from git master?
