Screenshot OpenArena flickering

I had this problem on latest xf86-video-ati 6.12.4 and now with a fresh (today) self.compiled version from git. Mesa is 7.7 libdrm is git (today) too

I can play OpenArena WITHOUT ANY problem. Only if I set texture level to maximum, I got a strage behaviour. After some seconds, textures start to flicker and look like this (see attachment).

Another strange thing is the sound, my video card does (ati mobility radeon x1300 on thinkpad t60). It sounds like a chirr from a grasshopper. With git, this sound comes everytime, something "bigger" happens on the screen like windows moving window on desktop...

xorg is very minimalistic and not usefull, i attached if anyway
same on xorg log, but attached too.

It seems like a Problem with some memory on the card? (flickering grows on playing a while)

I noted that the strange noice comes very often at the desktop too. If I switch the virtual desktop or scroll in firefox. If I open or move a window.

But the strangest thing ever: There is NO noice in openArena with one level below highest texture.

Means: Nearly on every application (2D/3D) i got this sounds, but not on openarena with second highest texture level.

Noice is away if I do
"NoAccel" "yes"
in xorg.conf

It's me again.
Version 6.12.192 mad same problem much worser. I had to downgrade again, to let most games half playable.
Maybe someone can guess the problem by better knows the chances made in this 2 versions.

Have you changed the mesa version installed? This is likely a bug in the 3D driver rather than the ddx (xf86-video-ati).
Comment 6 Andreas Boll 2014-07-07 16:43:40 UTC
The classic r300 driver has been abandoned long ago.
It was replaced by the Gallium driver r300g.

If you have issues with r300g please file a new bug report with component Drivers/Gallium/r300

Thanks.
