dmesg

Hi,

I recently switched to 2.6.33 sources and tried using kms with new driver version 2.6.15. The card is Asus Radeon 4350, 1GB memory.

First, I didn't know about the new firmware loading stuff so in my first try I got an error about the firmware being missing and it gave me a certain duration of delay at boot time.

I thought this was due to the missing firmware. So I did everything necessary regarding the firmware files and retried. The delay is gone and the kms starts okay as well but when X starts, I get a black screen. The computer does not lock up or anything. I can login from the network and everything seems ok -except that the screen is black!

Without the firmware, everything is fine except the delay I get at boot.

Attaching dmesg and X log files...

Your ddx (xf86-video-ati) is too old to support kms. You need 6.12.191 (soon to be 6.13.0) or git master. Either upgrade your ddx or load the radeon drm without ks support: radeon.modeset=0
