On all versions of linux my Intel 845 card hangs after a few minutes and the slow vesa graphics driver is used as a fallback.

Disabling DRI and enabling SHADOW keeps it stable but games run at 3FPS

This is a known hardware issue that prevents it from running without crashing the GPU. The only workaround so far is not to use the GPU.
