When running my ATI Radeon 9600 with the "home" setup in the supplied xorg.conf, the config works ok. Ok for all resolutions settings apart the 1680x1050 one. There the xinerama setup seems to be broken. I noticed that when switching to that res led to a gnome-panel occupying only half of the laptop panel. And the external display showed a cloned version of this (well the clone mode was expected ...). (See appended screenshoot) I also attach the XOrg.0.log. See line 1736 for the last switch to 1680x1050.

Ok, I gave it another try. Removing the 800x600-800x600 Metamode from the home layout, allows me to switch from 3080x1050 to 1680x1050, as I would expect it.
Sorry about the phenomenal bug spam, guys. Adding xorg-team@ to the QA contact so bugs don't get lost in future.
