Description Bram 2010-12-29 07:16:44 UTC
When there's nu sum, and one clicks the 'uper and lower limits', 'upper limit' or 'lower limit' button with a sum sign, the sum itself isn't added. From the behaviour of the other buttons and the sign the button has, the expected behaviour would be that the output would be

sum from{<?>} to{<?>} <?>

instead of:

from{<?>} to{<?>} <?>

which is currently what appears when using the 'upper and lower limit' button.

Thanks Bram, I can reproduce it in Libo 3.3 rc2 SLED 11 sp1.

Not a regression against ooo 3.2.1.

The limit button is used for the integral as well. So the error is not, that no sum symbol is inserted, but that the icon shows a sum symbol.

This bug was filed before the changes to Bugzilla on 2011-10-16. Thus it
started right out as NEW without ever being explicitly confirmed. The bug is
changed to state NEEDINFO for this reason. To move this bug from NEEDINFO back
to NEW please check if the bug still persists with the 3.5.0 beta1 or beta2 prereleases.
Details on how to test the 3.5.0 beta1 can be found at:
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/BugHunting_Session_3.5.0.-1

Comment 4 Christopher M. Penalver 2012-01-03 18:02:48 UTC
Reproducible in:
LOdev 3.5.0beta2
Build ID: 8589e48-760cc4d-f39cf3d-1b2857e-60db978
Microsoft Windows Vista Business 6.0.6002 Service Pack 2 Build 6002
Comment 5 Lubos Lunak 2013-05-30 15:07:48 UTC
The tooltips say that the buttons are just for limits, not the sum itself, which has its own button. One could claim the icon is wrong, since it shows the sum as well, but how is the icon otherwise supposed to represent that it is upper/lower/both limit?

Unless somebody has an idea for a better icon, there's nothing to improve here -> closing.

The attached icons show a placeholder instead of a sigma.

Making new icons would be a task for the design team.
